how teachers can work more effectively with families.

Wednesday, November 5th 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. Eastern time

[ Satellite Coordinates | Fax Registration Form | Online Registration ]

How can teachers, principals, and other school professionals work more effectively with parents and families?

Join a national discussion on how universities, colleges, schools, and communities can better prepare teachers to involve parents and families in the education of their children. Featured will be innovative programs and best practices from leading colleges of education, as well as school districts and communities from around the nation. The program is scheduled to include Vice President Al Gore and U.S. Secretary of Education Richard Riley.

How can I participate?

  • Find a site with satellite downlink capability, like a university, a community college, a school district office, or a community access station.

  • Invite teachers, parents, college and university administrators, and school officials to take part in the teleconference at your local event.

  • Register your participation in one of two ways: fax registration or online registration to receive information and materials.

  • Convene the group to watch the satellite broadcast on Wednesday, November 5th at 2:00 pm Eastern time. If possible, host a local discussion of the issues to be raised during the teleconference, before or after the broadcast.

  • Learn from model programs and practices from across the country and gather ideas that might work in your community.

The teleconference is free, but please register your participation.
