Linda L. Emery serves as the Senior Policy Advisor of the President's Commission on Excellence in Special Education. Prior to this appointment, President Bush appointed Linda to be Special Assistant to the Assistant Secretary for Special Education and Rehabilitative Services, Bob Pasternack. Before this, she was a budget analyst at the US House of Representatives Committee on the Budget with specific responsibilities for education-related oversight. While at the Budget Committee, Linda drafted portions of the House Budget Resolution Package.
Under both the Reagan and Bush Administrations, Linda was appointed to the U.S. Arms Control and Disarmament Agency as Deputy Director for Congressional Affairs and represented U.S. government positions on arms control issues to Members of Congress and their staff. Previously she served as a Legislative Assistant to Senator Don Nickles (R-OK).
Linda began her career teaching special education in Gallup, New Mexico and also taught in Oklahoma City and Norman, Oklahoma working with children with cognitive disabilities and emotional disturbance. She holds a B.S. in education and an M.Ed., each from the University of Oklahoma.
