Making Information Work for You: An Evaluator's Tool Kit - 1997
Explanation of Sample Goal Matrices
Purpose
- To provide a structure for organizing the goals of the partnership, information available on each goal, resources and community activities related to each goals, and potential new activities that a strategy could use to reach each goal.
These matrices help a partnership:
- See what is known about an area addressed by a goal and identify knowledge gaps that must be filled before partners can develop an informed strategy
- Learn how to collect the missing information
- Think about potential informal and formal participants in a strategy and consider how their current activities may contribute to an effective strategy
- See what important activities are missing in a strategy and identify potential participants who should be involved in new activities
Who develops and reflects on the matrices?
- The processes involved in completing and periodically updating these matrices should include all important stakeholders in your comprehensive strategy. Leaving out an important group (e.g., students, parents, teachers, business people) means that your strategy is not taking advantage of all available information and resources.
Refer to Chapter 3 in the Guide Book.
