READY*SET*READ Early Childhood Learning Kit

The "READY*SET*READ Early Childhood Learning Kit" was developed by the Department of Health and Human Services, the Corporation for National Service, and the Department of Education to advance President Clinton's challenge to help every child in America read independently and well by the end of the third grade. As the Secretary's letter to families and caregivers of young children explains, the kit includes:

The READY*SET*READ Activity Guides for Families and Caregivers, which provide ideas you can use to help young children learn about language with age-appropriate activities.

Spanish versions of the Activity Guides for Familias and Cuidadores de Niños Pequeños are also available.

An 1998-99 Early Childhood Activity Calendar which is filled with helpful tips and special activities that promote reading and language skills for young children. The 1997-98 Early Childhood Activity Calendar is also still available.

An Early Childhood Growth Chart, in English and Spanish, for families and caregivers which gives age-appropriate activities to promote language development for young children.
