We have a work study student that reads to the kindergarten class at one of our three elementary schools. She reads to them right in the classroom at the end of the day. We hope to expand the program for 1999-2000.

This past year was our first year in the America Reads program. This year we are looking forward to increasing the number of students in local elementary schools, grades 1-2. We are involved with other community agencies in providing training for our students to become tutors and will have representatives attending the America Reads Conference.

All of our tutoring sites are in Vermillion. We serve grades K-6 at our three local elementary schools, as well as have tutors at two childcare centers for children 2-12. We also provide services for the Vermillion Public Library. The community has provided wonderful support and has really appreciated our efforts to get this program off to a great start. Our sites only wish for more tutors to go around, because they have been so useful.
