Bismarck State College is just beginning its participation in the America Reads Challenge in a very limited way in its first year. Bismarck State is a two-year community college and do not have the resources readily available to provide training. The school has placed one student as a reading tutor in a first grade classroom. The student we have on the program is being trained by the first grade teacher she is working for.

The Financial Aid Office works with the Education Department to find students who are both eligible for the Federal Work-Study Program and qualified to be a reading tutor.  We provide tutors to five of the elementary schools in the North Fargo area and two of the local Daycare Centers.
