The University of Hawaii at Manoa currently has 22 FWS Reading Tutors working with 70 children, from preschool through the 6th grade. They are in 2 preschools and 10 public elementary schools in the Honolulu district. They work 4-12 hours per week, during the school day and afterschool care hours. One of our tutors is a graduate student in elementary education, and is incorporating dance and movement in the reading process.

Training this year was conducted by the Orton Dyslexia Association and Assistance League of Hawaii. For next academic year, we are currently working with representatives from our State Department of Education and various literacy organizations in developing a comprehensive on-going training program.
