  • 24 Game This web page provides instructions for a teacher-created math game designed to review basic facts and the order of operations in a fun, problem-solving situation. Players use four digits obtained from rolling four dice to create a mathematical expression equal to 24.

  • http://www.aplusmath.com/ This is a drill-and-practice web site with a variety of problems and math games. Students can use this site on their own to practice computation skills through problems. Games like Concentration and Flashcards cover geometric shapes, money, and fractions along with addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

  • A+ Math Games Students can play these games on their own to practice computation skills through problems. Games include Matho (Bingo and math combined), Concentration (to test your memory and your math), and Hidden Picture (solve math problems to uncover a hidden picture).

  • Education 4 kids : an Internet resource (ENC-016994) This site features games and activities in mathematics, language, social studies, and science at variety of grade levels from K to 12. The science section offers a practice activity for the periodic table of elements, while the mathematics section contains Math Flashcards for Kids in K to 8, Math Square Game for grades 4 to 12, and activities for calculating time and money differences for grades 2 to 8. Each game or activity offers a choice for difficulty level along with feedback and timing options.

  • http://www.funbrain.com/index.html Each of the five sections of this interactive site contains a game designed to help students improve their math, spelling, or writing. For example, the first section, Math Baseball, plays like a ball game where the batter finds answers for arithmetic problems, scores a hit for a correct answer, and gets an out for a wrong answer. This game can be played with any or all of the arithmetic operations and at four skill levels.

  • Helping Your Child Learn Math. This resource was written for parents of children in kindergarten through fifth grade, but will also be useful for tutors. It includes a variety of activities to help children learn and apply mathematical concepts such as geometry, algebra, measurement, statistics, and probability in a useful and fun way. All of the activities relate math to everyday life and complement many of the math lessons that children are learning in school. Activities use materials that are easy to find.

  • Illuminations: principles and standards for school mathematics (ENC-016955) Created by the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM), this site provides online information and activities to support and demonstrate how the new mathematical standards, PRINCIPLES AND STANDARDS FOR SCHOOL MATHEMATICS (PSSM), can be applied in the classroom. A section called i-Math features ready to use online interactive mathematical investigations for students; these include teacher notes, discussion questions, and connections to pages of the PSSM. Other sections of the ILLUMINATIONS web site offer video vignettes of classroom activities to promote discussion; Internet resources offering mathematical background information and support for the implementation of the PSSM; lesson plans for each grade band; and a searchable interactive version of the updated NCTM standards.

The Math Forum collects Internet and teacher-initiated mathematics resources and organizes them by subject so that these resources can be readily accessed. A favorite Math Forum feature, Problems of the Week, provide a creative mathematical challenge for students that can be used in the classroom or at home. New problems are offered each week for elementary, middle school, algebra, geometry, and trigonometry and calculus students.

  • Number Tick Tack Toe: A Math Game for Primary Grades This web page provides instructions for a math game that makes tick tack toe more challenging. The teacher who designed this activity changed the rules and symbols to give the game new life while giving students extended practice in basic addition and subtraction facts.

  • Pattern Blocks and Fractions In these online activities and problems designed by a math teacher, students use pattern blocks to investigate and build relations among fractions.

  • Rounding Flashcards Practice rounding numbers with A+ Math Flashcards. This online game keeps track of your score and explains the correct answer when you miss a number.

  • A Tour of Fractions These web pages provide lessons and materials on fractions for elementary, middle, and high school students. Tutors might review these pages to catch up on their own content knowledge. The site also presents questions and answers about rational numbers and fractions from the Math Forum's Ask Dr. Math. These pages also describe software available for working with fractions.
