Date posted: Sat May 29 17:13:02 EDT 1999 URL: I am an Asst. Principal for the Little Axe School district. I have a program that we began this year called "Reading ON Wheels". This program was developed to cut down on bad bus behavior and to increase reading opportunities on the ride home. The program has been on TV, newspaper, and a national transportation magazine. We are very proud of this program because of the wonderful benefits it has reaped for our students. Our bus drivers are a very key ingredient to the program's success. They are my educators on wheels. The program is now beginning its second year and we are wanting to expand it so that our parents and the whole community can be involved. Our community is a rural one so getting involvement is very crucial to our community's growth. We need financial resources as well as material resources. Any agency that would like to help with our program would be so appreciated. By the way our new acronym for our program is P.O.W.E.R. People On Wheels Encouraging Reading or for the kids it means, Pupils On Wheels Eagerly Reading. Please Help!!
