Name: judith gorgone E-mail: webmaster@planetpals.com Subject: earth sciences project Grade Taught: college (project is for elementary) City: boston State: ma Resource's URL: http://www.planetpals.com Date posted: Thu May 6 17:02:54 EDT 1999 URL: Save the Planetpals! Planetpals Earthen is an interactive site with endearing characters that teach us the importance of caring for our planet and everything in it. It is a valuable source of earth science and ecology information and is used by educators and students worldwide. It is highly endorsed and has been granted with many awards. In it's short time online, since Oct 98, Planetpals is clocking in at 300,000 hits per week, nearly 5,000 unique servers and over 80 countries. Planetpals is successfully spreading a positive message around the globe, to thousands of people. Now I am hoping someone can help save this site and continue it?s valuable message. Presently, I am the sole proprietor of the website. I have created the characters, the content, and support its additions as well as maintain it, all on my own time. Planetpals is increasing in size so rapidly that I have come to the point where I need financial assistance to keep up with its maintenance and costs. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the system, the more popular "hits" the site gets, the more I have to pay to my internet provider out of my small pocket. IN a nutshell I am in need of a sponsor or partnership to keep the message alive. Planetpals has been endorsed on Yahoo, Computer Currents Magazine, and most recently appeared in a CNN Interactive article "The internet goes green". Planetpals appeared in the October issue of the Licensing Report, and the April Issue of the Licensing Book magazine in the article "cause related licensing". The EPA lists Planetpals Earthzone as a valuable educational resource for teachers in their latest booklet. Parents and educators have found this site to be valuable and fun for their children with a good clean message! As webmaster, I receive letters of support from people of all ages that enjoy it. I have had numerous requests for the characters use in celebrations all over the country honoring Earthday: In the the town of Haddonfield, NJ Earthman was used as a mascot for their Nature walk. A hospital in St. Petersberg , FL and the Wallmart in Virga, KY used the Planetpal?s Recycle kits as a tool for their recent events. Students everywhere have become familiar with the Planetpals characters: In Richmond, VA students drew their favorite Planetpal character for their annual Earthday contest. These are just a few examples of the growing interest there has been in my website and it's characters. In short, this is a great way for you or your company to reach tens-of-thousands of people with a positive message, or, to just be a philanthropist. I am willing to discuss any type of sponsorship, licensing, or advertising. I hope you will consider endorsing Planetpals Earthzone.
