I wish to start a full service day care for young children. I have seen a need for extended care, both morning, noon, and night. With today's society becoming more and more 24-hour, children are often left un-attended, or inadequately cared for. I have been searching the net for resrouces on how to get started, and so far, this is the only site that I have found with the potential for helping me. The day care (or all care) would consist of a 24 hour staff. We would service all types of families; dual incomes, all shift workers, single parented families, and others family types. The setting would be in a 'home' setting, with adequate space for learning, living, and loving. We would have a bedroom area for children requiring overnight services, with bathing facilities as well. Each child would have his/her own 'private' space for their belongings and other personal effects to make their space more home-like. We would have several 'gathering rooms' in addition to regular play-space and learning center areas. This would add to the 'at-home' atmosphere this setting would provide. I am currently a large family home day care provider. I have recently read the statistics produced by Child Care Search (our local R&R) and was astonished at the number of children-requiring care and the actually slots available. I have also be inundated with calls from nurses and other shift workers looking for odd hours like 5:30AM-3:00PM or 3:00PM-midnight. There is a need for this type of service, and I'm hoping you can help me to get one started. Sincerely, Kathie Dell
