Since 1984, the Magnet Schools Assistance Program (MSAP) has supported the development of magnet schools in order for communities to increase educational opportunities that promote diversity, academic excellence, and equity, and build a community of practice. To support the work of current MSAP grantees, as well as the more than 3,000 magnet schools throughout the U.S., the Office of Parental Options and Information is pleased to announce the launch of the Magnet Schools Assistance Program Technical Assistance Center.
The Center offers a wide range of technical supports and resources in research-based content and innovative practices in project implementation, management, performance reporting and professional development. Information on current grantees, including a map of their locations, a newsletter, The Magnet Compass, and other resources are available to all magnet schools. These are complemented by special features exclusively for current grantees, including project management guidance and efficient access to MSAP technical assistance.
“The goal of the new Center,” according to Anna Hinton, Director of OII’s Parental Options and Information program, “is to provide strategic and targeted guidance and assistance to our grantees to help them successfully implement high quality, sustainable magnet programs for the communities they serve.”
