Maxie Moua was born and raised in Fresno, California. In 2012, she won the Silver Key in the California Writes! contest. In two consecutive years, she won the Hmong American Writers’ Circle Award (2012-2013) and the Arts and Humanities Dean’s Award (2013) at Fresno State’s Young Writers’ Conference and was published in their anthology Spectrum. Maxie was also published in the anthology (In)visible Memoirs, a memoir project that validates the creative writing and stories of underrepresented and underserved writers. She is a Horatio Alger California Scholar and now attends the University of California, Berkeley. Maxie finds happiness when she doodles and hand makes items, and she lives to learn.
