Public Meetings About Reauthorization

With the passage of reauthorization, OERI will acquire new responsibilities and activities to be undertaken in different ways. Therefore, it is important to hear from citizens and understand education customers' needs.

Beginning in late April, OERI will support and participate in a series of meetings in five metropolitan areas to describe the mission and plans for the office, and to hold discussions with its publics. These meetings will be:

April 22, Tampa/St. Petersburg, FL
May 5, Austin, TX
May 18, Seattle, WA
May 20, Chicago, IL
May 24, Portland, ME

The meetings will provide for wide public participation and comment on what OERI should consider as it carries out its mission. They will serve to gather information from school officials, parents, teachers, students, and others to improve the responsiveness of OERI's products and services.
