READ*WRITE*NOW! Available

The summer component of theAMERICA READS CHALLENGE, President Clinton's initiative to ensure that all children can read well and independently by the end of third grade, is available now. All you need to READ*WRITE*NOW! is a child, a learning partner (a teenager, senior citizen, caring community member, or relative), and a book. Contact your local library for a basic summer kit--which is designed for children preschool through grade six and includes an activities book, a vocabulary log, a bookmark, and two certificates--and for more information on the AMERICA READS CHALLENGE: READ*WRITE*NOW!, call 1-800-USA-LEARN. The kit is also available online at http://www.ed.gov.
