Consumer Guides to the Infobahn
The U.S. Department of Education's most recent Consumer
Guides provide useful
roadmaps to the information superhighway
for educators and students alike. Designed by
OERI's National Institute on the Education of
At-Risk Students, these Guides not only serve OERI's general audience but also
introduce professionals serving the at-risk community to the information highway.
Available Guides include:
- Gopher It! Accessing Department of Education Grant Information on the Internet (No. 11) identifies the best gopher locations for the latest information on grants and contracts;
- USENET Newsgroups (No. 12) describes the education-related discussion groups to which readers can post messages across the Internet and other computer networks;
- Gopher It! Information On-Line at the U.S. Department of Education (No. 13) features ED's on-line gopher server; and
- An Introduction to the Internet (No. 14) explains how to access the Internet, what information is available, and certain pitfalls to avoid; and
- Using the Internet: World Wide Web Pages Featuring Education (No. 15) features ED's on-line gopher server.
