Math and Science

Designed to help teachers promote excellence in science and mathematics education by offering a wide array of materials and programs, the ENC Catalog contains a comprehensive collection of K 12 mathematics and science instructional resources. The catalog includes materials available in print, audio, video, multimedia, and other electronic formats produced by federal agencies, commercial and nonprofit organizations, and teachers.

Catalog entries are designed to be educator friendly. Each item contains descriptive abstracts in addition to information on resource type, grade level, availability, and cost. Any comments about awards, reviews, and studies are being incorporated into the catalog.

The Clearinghouse already has a special Gopher site. The ENC Gopher is an easy-to-use, menu-driven special collection of math and science resources found on the Internet. Topics include curriculum materials, curriculum frameworks, assessment tools, standards, state and national reform efforts, and more. You can find and download software, graphics, and text files from a variety of sources on a myriad of topics. To access ENC online:

• If using a modem, dial 1-800-ENC-4448 (1-800-362-4448). Choose c from the ENC welcome screen to connect to ENC online services and login as guest.

• If you have Internet access, use the telnet command to connect to enc.org and login as guest.

• In either case, after login, you will be asked to register a user name and to answer some brief questions. Supply this user name each time you connect after the initial registration.

• At this point, you can search the ENC Catalog of Curriculum Resources or explore the Internet resources available via the ENC Gopher.
