Sample Standards
One arts content standard for grades 5-8 reads, Analyzing and
evaluating dramatic texts of various genres and styles.
The performance standard states, Students shall:
- describe the elements of dramatic structure (exposition, problem,
conclusion) and the concept of dramatic genre (comedy, melodrama) found in
their own work and in world literature.
- give examples of structure and style from several different cultures
and historical periods
- articulate the meaning the dramas have for them and relate the works
to their own lives
