College Library Technology and Cooperation Grants Program. Four continuation and 33 new FY 93 grants totaling $3,872,768 to assist college and university libraries to acquire technological equipment and to conduct research in information technology. LP, 219-1315

Dwight D. Eisenhower National Program for Mathematics and Science Education. FY 93 grants totaling $2,999,873 to 10 state education agencies to develop curriculum frameworks in science and mathematics. FIRST, 219-1496

Educational Partnerships Program Evaluation. The Southwest Regional Laboratory received an FY 93 contract for $257,963 to evaluate and document the projects funded under the Educational Partnerships Program grants. PIP, 219-2116

Field-Initiated Studies Program. Eleven FY 93 grants totaling $942,656 for research on any topic that will advance educational theory and practice. OR, 219-2223

Fund for Innovation in Education (FIE): Comprehensive School Health Education Program. FY 93 grants totaling nearly $1.3 million to 11 state and local education agencies for development of programs to train teachers and administrators to teach health and fitness, nutrition, disease prevention, and safety, and to involve parents and the community in design, implementation, and evaluation. FIE: Computer-Based Instruction Program. FY 93 grants totaling nearly $1.8 million to 13 school districts, universities, and other organizations to strengthen and expand computer resources in public and private elementary and secondary schools. Most projects train teachers to use computer technology in the teaching of mathematics, science, history, and foreign languages. FIRST, 219-1496

FIE: Innovation in Education Program. FY 93 grants totaling $3 million to 13 state education agencies to develop individual or multidisciplinary frameworks for English, history, geography, civics, and the arts (see funding). FIRST, 219-1496

FIE: Innovation in Education Program. Ten FY 93 grants totaling nearly $2.2 million to school districts, universities, and other organizations to support innovative projects in elementary and secondary education to help students reach high standards of academic achievement in English, history, geography, civics, the arts, foreign languages, mathematics, and science. Fund for the Improvement and Reform of Schools and Teaching (FIRST): Family-School Partnership Awards. Twelve FY 93 awards totaling $l,651,879 to local educational agencies in eight states. They provide training for families of disadvantaged children on ways to learn and assume the family's educational responsibilities. FIRST, 219-1496

Jacob K. Javits Gifted and Talented Students Education Program. Ten FY 93 grants totaling $2,373,499 to universities and local school districts to develop programs for inclusion of students not traditionally a part of gifted and talented activities--new ways of identifying giftedness and specific academic activities. Library Education and Human Resource Development Institutes. About $1.1 million in FY 93 grants to 9 institutions of higher education and 6 library organizations for long- and short-term institutes to train or retrain library personnel in specialty areas where there are shortages or to serve needs of the elderly, illiterate, disadvantaged, or rural residents. Library Foreign Language Materials Acquisition Program. FY 93 grants to one state library and 29 public libraries totaling $968,192 for the acquisition of foreign language materials to meet the needs of the communities they serve. LP, 219-1315

Library Literacy Program. A total of $8,097,696 in FY 93 grants to 12 state libraries and 236 public libraries for adult literacy programs. LP, 219-1315

Library Research and Demonstration. The University of Wisconsin-Madison received $143,143 in FY 93 funds for a second year of a contract for training state library and other library personnel in planning and evaluation (see page 6). LP, 219-2293

Library Services for Indian Tribes Program: Special Projects Grants. FY 93 grants totaling $896,709 to 12 Indian tribes for public library development on reservations. One quarter are for construction and the rest support personnel and initiation of special programs. LP, 219-1315

Public Library State Grant Awards. FY 93 state-administered grants totaling $113.5 million to 55 state library agencies to fund new public library service projects, public library construction and technology projects, and interlibrary cooperative projects. LP, 219-1303

Star Schools Program. A total of $22 million for six general, one special statewide, and four dissemination FY 93 grants to provide improved instruction in mathematics, science, foreign languages, literacy, and vocational education through the use of distance learning technologies. PIP, 219-2116

Star Schools Program Evaluation. The Southwest Regional Laboratory received a contract for $434,000 to conduct a broad-scale evaluation of the Star Schools Program and to address issues related to telecommunications partnerships. PIP, 219-2116

Territorial Teacher Training Assistance Program (TTTAP). FY 93 continuation grants totaling $1,736,989 to provide assistance for teacher training to acquire certification and improve instructional skills in American Samoa, Commonwealth of Northern Marianas Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, Guam, Palau, Republic of the Marshall Islands, and Virgin Islands.
