Call with Funder Community Regarding i3 Matching Grants

On Tuesday, Nov. 20, the Department of Education hosted a conference call for education funders with Assistant Deputy Secretary Jim Shelton, Director of Strategic Partnerships Suzanne Immerman, and Associate Assistant Deputy Secretary Nadya Dabby to highlight the important role that philanthropies and businesses play in continuing the success of the Investing In Innovation Fund (i3) fund. Guest speakers from the Carnegie and Target corporations reflected upon their positive experiences of investing in i3 during past years and urged others to help the 2012 Highest Rated Applicants (HRAs) secure matching funds by Dec. 7, 2012.

Ms. Dabby underscored the valuable opportunity for funders by saying that “for every dollar that a private funder puts in, they get more than five dollars in public leverage.”
