In an effort to help higher education campuses build and sustain high-quality America Counts mathematics tutoring programs, the U.S. Department of Education has designed an on-line "roadmap"--or guide--containing many suggestions and materials. This information has been compiled from an array of relevant sources and builds on the expertise of people who have administered tutoring and mentoring programs, including many involved with America Reads. While some of the recommendations are based upon experiences in literacy, the insights transcend a content focus and can be applied to mathematics tutoring.

As you will notice, there are a variety of stops along the roadmap that represent key program components. While particular sections of the roadmap--or suggestions contained within--may be more helpful than others, we hope that you refer to this guide from time to time as new opportunities and challenges arise.
