Identifying Prevention Priorities and Strategies for Success

Tips for Building a Planning Team
  • Include representatives of the key groups and settings that impact youth.

  • Select individuals who want the initiative to succeed.

  • Select a combination of "doers" and "influencers."

  • Re-evaluate membership regularly.

  • Periodically add members to generate new ideas and enthusiasm.

  • Be aware of politics and don't allow personal agendas to take over.

  • Make sure your team is large enough to get the work done, but small enough to reach consensus.

  • Create subcommittees when necessary.
