LEAD & MANAGE MY SCHOOL
Identifying Prevention Priorities and Strategies for Success

       •  Sharing Your Vision

There are many ways to share your vision with school and community members and to promote interest in your initiative. Some examples include:

    • community agency meetings
    • press releases
    • feature stories
    • guest columns and editorials
    • newsletters
    • brochures
    • posters and flyers
    • fact sheets
    • websites and electronic mailing lists
    • direct mail

Whenever possible, try linking these activities to relevant national awareness weeks or months. Be creative in getting the word out!

As you describe your plans, make sure to emphasize the following:

    • The drug- and violence-related issues and population(s) you will target (support these decisions with your needs assessment data from the local, state, and perhaps national levels)

    • Why these issues are problems

    • Your proposed solution to the identified problems, and your anticipated outcomes

    • Why you believe this plan will be successful

In addition, make sure to provide supporting research, references, and contact information should your audience want more information.
