Strategies that Encourage Shared Reading
Prior to Reading the Book
- Page through the book with the child.
- If re-reading a favorite, ask the child to recall what happens in the book.
- If reading a new book, ask the child to make predictions.
- What do you see in the pictures?
- What do you think this book is about?
- What do you think will happen in the book?
- Listen to the child's answers.
