Conference Materials

The Office of Vocational and Adult Education (OVAE) held a State Director's Meeting to kick-off the implementation of the Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Act of 2006 on October 6, 2006, in Washington, D.C. The purpose of this meeting was to: provide state directors for career and technical education with information about the major changes in the newly reauthorized Perkins Act (Perkins IV); gather information from state directors on areas in the legislation which are unclear and need policy guidance from the Department; gather information from state directors on areas in which they require technical assistance—national, regional, or individualized—in order to implement the new provisions of Perkins IV; and provide general guidance on the upcoming state plan submissions and performance level negotiations. These materials, originally provided to participants in the meeting binders, include the final agenda, PowerPoint presentations, and supplementary materials.
