The Massachusetts Department of Education’s Virtual Education Space (VES) creates a new vision of the way in which teaching and learning is delivered. VES offers a set of free Web-based applications, resources, and tools to public school students, teachers, and administrators across the state. Through a secure portal, these tools support the pre-K–12 community by enabling collaboration among school districts, sharing standards-based curriculum resources, and gathering and analyzing data to improve teaching and learning. The Charleston County School District (CCSD) Online Management System is breaking new ground because it offers both diagnostic and prescriptive information to meet the technology needs of individual teachers.
