The Need For Research on Educational
Technology Impact
On behalf of the AERA
Special Interest Group (Technology as an Agent for
Change in Teaching and Learning) in which I serve
as VP, I would like to make the case that we need
to create and carry out a more focused, pragmatic
research agenda that will both counter past
criticisms of our methods and findings and help
answer the question that should drive practice:
"What are technology's essential contributions to
teaching and learning?" The attached file helps
make this case. Also, please see the Roblyer and
Knezek (2003) article: New millennium research for
educational technology: A call for a national
research agenda. Journal of Research on Technology
in Education, 36(1),
60-71.
