assistive technology and individuals with learning disabilities

Assistive technology for students with learning disabilities. Text-to-speech, word prediction and voice recognition have been very helpful in enabling individuals with learning disabilities.
Discrete speech recognition programs were very helpful 4 to 6 years. Continuous speech programs are beginning to reach the level of accuracy and ease of training to also become extremely helpful to students who have trouble processing the sounds of words. The smallest unit the individual would have to process would be the whole word.
Word prediction also offers a great advantage in its ability to display the word after only a few letters have been typed.
Text-to-speech software offers benefits in several areas. It can read to the student and includes a dictionary. It can also search for information and allow important information to be highlighted. The could be more efficient for all students.
