Identifying the Essentials
The use of
technology in K-12 education must be goal driven;
and the goals must be related to instructional
outcomes and student achievement. Simply finding
or creating and using technology-rich lesson plans
is not an end in itself. Improved student learning
is the objective here. The National Technology
Plan should place great emphasis on discovering
and encouraging the effective uses of technology
to make a positive difference in students'
abilities to meet and exceed standards. If the
Plan can clearly identify such objectives and
contribute to our ability to assess success in
meeting those objectives, it will make a
meaningful contribution to the instructional
technology
community.
