  Computer-Based Assessments

Although computer-based assessments may generally be more efficient and affordable once fully implemented, they may not suit every subject area exclusively. For example, in foreign language education, while some aspects of a student's, or even a teacher's skills may lend themselves to computer-based assessment, such as vocabulary or geography of the target country, "productive language skills," to coin the "Praxis" terminology, require and deserve more subtle evaluation and interpretation. Technology should support learning, but in conjunction with other forms of assessment where it best serves the interest of the learner.
