Purpose and Mission

The purpose of the Non-Federal Audits Team is to carry out the responsibilities specified in:

• IG Act
• Single Audit Act
• Higher Education Reauthorization Act and implementing regulations
• OMB Circulars A-128 and A-133
• Cognizant Agency Responsibilities Guidelines

These responsibilities require the Office of Inspector General to assure the quality and usefulness of the nonfederal audit process.

Vision Statement

To be a self-directed improvement team that provides timely and valued guidance and assistance to auditors in the conduct of Non-Federal audits. To ensure that Non-Federal audits meet requirements and are reliable and effective tools to improve the integrity and effectiveness of Education programs.

The ED/OIG Non-Federal Audits Team consists of seven members located in two areas (Eastern and Western).
