The Immediate Office of the General Counsel staff provides overall direction, coordination and leadership to the Office of the General Counsel, handles special assignments and provides support services for the Office of the General Counsel.
Senior Staff of the Immediate Office
The Immediate Office of the General Counsel includes three Deputy General Counsels (Deputy General Counsel for Program Service, Deputy General Counsel for Departmental and Legislative Service, and Deputy General Counsel for Postsecondary and Regulatory Service) who assist the General Counsel and head the three legal practice areas of the Office. The Immediate Office also includes the Executive Officer and other senior staff who handle special assignments and collectively assist the General Counsel in the overall direction, coordination, and leadership for the Office of the General Counsel.
Operations Management Staff
Within the Immediate Office of the General Counsel, the Operations Management Staff is headed by the Executive Officer, who is responsible for managing and coordinating functions in the areas of budget and financial management, human resources management, and administrative services and procurement.In performing its responsibilities, the Operations Management staff:

Coordinates and implements the Office of the General Counsel's personnel management system, including employee recruitment, selection, and promotion; and monitors the utilization of secretarial and clerical resources.

Provides advice, information, and assistance to the General Counsel and the Office of the General Counsel personnel on employee relations matters, including grievances, employee discipline, related matters, and affirmative action.

Plans and develops the budget for the Office of the General Counsel.

Prepares fiscal operating plans, analyses, and reports; approves expenditures and obligations for the Office of the General Counsel; and represents the General Counsel in securing contracts for support services and equipment.

Develops, recommends, and implements policies and procedures in the areas of procurement, space management, and property controls.

Maintains and directs an automated tracking and logging system for OGC correspondence and other incoming and outgoing materials.

Directs the design, installation, and maintenance of all OGC automated data processing (ADP) systems such as litigation tracking.

Coordinates and manages employee development and training for the Office.

Maintains and directs a central filing and information system for the Office.

Maintains the OGC Law Library, including supervision of the procurement of library materials and supplies, the processing of new books and periodicals, and the renewal of subscriptions.
