Program Description Museums for America provides more than $16 million in grants to support museums in American society to sustain cultural heritage, support lifelong learning, and be centers of community engagement. Museums for America grants support a variety of activities that advance the institution’s mission and strategic goals.
Eligible Grantees All types of museums, except federally operated and for-profit museums, may apply.
Eligible Beneficiaries Aquaria, arboreta, botanical gardens, art museums, youth museums, general museums, historic houses and sites, history museums, nature centers, natural history and anthropology museums, planetariums, science and technology centers, specialized museums, and zoological parks.
Historic Appropriation Level (in 000s) $17,152
Eligible Activities Museums for America grants can be used for ongoing or new educational programs and museum activities, such as research and other behind-the-scenes activities, planning, purchase of equipment or services, and the upgrade and integration of new technologies.
