Program Description The Adult Education National Leadership Activities program provides funding for applied research, development, demonstration, dissemination, evaluation, and related activities that contribute to the improvement and expansion of adult basic education nationally. Projects supported by this program will generate reports of use to practitioners, researchers, and policy makers and will provide technical assistance to adult education programs.
Eligible Grantees Public and private institutions, agencies, and organizations, businesses, and individuals may apply.
Eligible Beneficiaries Basic education and literacy programs for adults seeking to obtain an education at the primary or secondary levels will benefit through national evaluation, leadership and/or technical assistance efforts.
Historic Appropriation Level (in 000s) $9,000
Eligible Activities Funds have been provided for: (1) evaluations of "what works" for adult basic education and English as a second language programs; (2) conducting an evaluation of Section 353 State set-aside program; (3) conducting an evaluation of the set-aside for corrections education; and (4) an evaluation of a distance learning initiative, Crossroads Cafe.
