Secretary Richard W. Riley has asked State school superintendents to assemble a five person team of educators, policy makers, technology experts, and teachers from their state technology planning teams to convene in Washington to focus attention on educational technology issues. To this end, the conference includes interactive panel discussions on access and equity, professional development, content and software, and infrastructure and financing; state-of-the-art demonstrations of classroom applications, and opportunities for participants to share successful strategies.
In addition, the Department is charged with designing a National Long-Range Plan for Educational Technology, which the Secretary will present to the President and to Congress in September 1995. With this conference, as well as in prior workshops and on-line discussions, the Department solicits information and advice for this plan.
