It's the Content, Stupid

Networking technology will become pervasive as schools re- evaluate their technology purchases and develop sound buying strategies. Networking technology will shape the way in which students do class work and home work. It will help to form the ways in which they use their creativity.

But networking technology is a medium. What our schools and what out students need is a message. Knowing I will offend many, I feel compelled to say that most of the educational materials available to students today is _still_ poor quality, overly glitzy, and written to far too low a level of intelligence. There is plenty of electronic educational and research material appropriate for kindergarten-aged children.Unfortunately much of it is marketed for high schoolers.

Until the educational community raises its standards and starts writing materials that challenge students, networking technology will be a powerful but misused tool.
