Working in a small literacy program that sees how critical technology is to the future, we have seen first hand how technology has expanded the educational opportunities for students. Our county, which is rural and urban spread out over great distance, has many literacy providers that would enjoy sharing information and resources but are unable to do so because of the tremendous handicapp that all literacy programs work under...lack of funds. Being able to share resources through networking would be both economical and resource rich. It would be a sound investment if monies could be made available to allow literacy programs a chance to connect. More emphasis should be put on closing the information gap between the have's and have not's. Improving our ability to "network" will only increase the quality of our service.
